Statement From Caucus President Michael Albetta
We have just come through the first phase of one of the most historic nominating contests in our nation’s and our Party’s history. Now we move on to the next phase.
All of us in Florida’s GLBT community take pride in the campaigns of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Both have shattered stereotypes, broke through limitations, and achieved enormous successes. In the process they both inspired Americans, and drove home the point that we are all equal. That is the goal of the Florida GLBT Democratic Caucus.
Regardless of which campaign you supported, now is the time for unity. In order to be successful in November, we must band together now and prepare for the battle ahead. We cannot tolerate another Republican administration – not for our nation, and not for our community.
Barack Obama will be our next president, if we all work as one to put him in the White House. I urge all members and friends of the Florida GLBT Democratic Caucus to get behind the Obama campaign and work hard for his election.
